Weddings in Morocco

Sometimes people fall in love. Sometimes when those people want to celebrate that love they get married. Sometimes those marriages happen in a different country. These happened in Morocco, and I’m so happy they did.

Oh btw it wasn’t us that got married. We cute tho.

So some close friends of ours got married in Morocco (the groom’s home country). Morocco was admittedly not a place I ever thought I would visit. I honestly never thought I’d visit Africa in general. Not for a lack of want, but more so the sheer size of earth, other places I want to go, and the money it would take to do it all. Traveling ain’t cheap and I’ll probably never see even half the places I would like to, but I’ll try to visit as many as I can.

So you’re looking at the title and you’re saying, “It says ““Weddings””, lil bro. That’s plural.” And you’re right. That’s because they held two separate ceremonies to celebrate the bride and grooms countries/cultures. The first being an Iranian wedding ceremony, and the second being the Moroccan one. Both were beautiful. Both were special. One had a dude with a small drum on his head.

Beyond the weddings we also had a few outings over our time there. We spent about 7 days in the country and then a night/day in Madrid before the flight home. Theres a lot I could say about a lot of things, but I’m not a writer and you probably don’t care so I try to keep these blogs short. I do want just say a few things though…

To the bride and groom; thank you for inviting us and congrats once again. To the people of Morocco: Thank you for being so lovely. To the owners of the main riad we stayed in (family of the groom); you guys were the best and down for whatever lol. And to Madrid: I see you fam, and I’ll be back.

Now I’m going to post some pictures with descriptions under them for your enjoyment. If you follow me on IG you might have seen some of them already but that’s ok. After the photos section I’ll write some more thoughtful shit for the people who actually care to read the extended versions of these posts. Here we go.

So you’re still here? Ok cool, you get to read more. Excited? No? I get it, just close the page I ain’t judging. Bored? I get it, just stay and read to kill time.

Whenever I travel I always have expectations and plans and all these thoughts in my head of what it will be like. This time though, I had none. I kind of sat back and let this one happen without being too involved in what we did and when we did it. Admittedly that was probably a pain in the ass for Nikki, and if it was I’m sorry boo. But for me it was nice cause I mostly just got to be observant and present.

I was able to just “be” in Morocco and to a small extent Madrid. I was able to just kick it with people and talk shit. Able to watch all the love and drama and emotions and chaos and partying that only weddings can provide in a span of just a few hours. Able to see and learn about cultures and people from places I never had much knowledge about beforehand. Able to learn things about myself. Travel will do that to you.

If you’re the type of person that lives in a bubble, I feel for you. I get that it’s comfy and nice and safe. Going places is scary, especially places where they don’t speak your language or eat the same food you eat or whatever. Flying on planes sucks. Flying on planes for more than 4 hours is probably what hell would be if it was real. But if some place, somewhere you find a second and third and fourth home. You will be so much better for it. The world is a big ass place, but it’s crazy how similar we all are as people. I implore you to get out there and try it. Or don’t, I’m not your dad you don’t have to listen to me.

Oh also, I fractured my toe real bad just weeks before the wedding. Ouch. I’ll leave yall with the x ray of that before they stuck me with needles to numb me and shove my toe back in place. Have a nice day, thanks for reading.

Looks like I ain’t getting in the nfl
