Taking it to the Max

Part of our plan in Korea was meeting up with Yun. He’s the dude in the main photo with the yellow sweater. Yun and Nikki work together for a sneaker company I won’t name but will probably become obvious over the course of this blog. For now though, the plan; Yun picks us up in his baller ass Land Rover and drives us all over South Korea. Plan accomplished. I wanted to say mission accomplished but I used plan as the descriptor so many times that I guess I dug myself too deep into that whole.

This blog will probably be long as I’m going to try and just cover the last 72 hours in it. So starting Thursday morning, We met with Yun at an undisclosed location where a store for an unnamed company might be opening. Then we went and had some lunch.

The Lunch.

After lunch we went to House Dosan in the Dosan District of Seoul. House Dosan is just a 3 story building with Gentle Monster, Tamburins and Nudake in one place. They are all gentle monster companies. Sunglasses, Scents, and a cafe respectively. It’s a cool experience. Unfortunately the sunglasses I wanted were out of stock.

They have interesting installments
These are not the shades I wanted
Food from the cafe.

Man let me tell y’all, that Matcha Latte was GOOD. Sad I can’t go scoop one of those up every now and then back home.

After Dosan we hit up this crazy ass mall owned by Hyundai. It’s like 5 stories with tons of cool stores and it’s just huge and well laid out and all that. Just look at this one and only pictures I took. We were only there for like 20 minutes because we had to drop Nikki off at a(very very long) skin care appointment. During which me and Yun strolled Hongdae and got to know each other better. He’s a great dude.

We talked about life and also about South Korea and even their brothers to the North. I couldn’t help getting a sobering feeling every now and then about that whole situation. When you’re there in S. Korea you kind of become hyper aware of the situation, or at least I did. I mean it’s a huge metropolitan city with amazing shit all over the place, and just a stones throw away there are a whole group of the same people leaving in an insanely horrible situation.

I won’t go into detail about what we discussed, cause that’s Yun’s story to tell. I’ll just say that I think you’d agree with his sentiments. Welp. Here’s some photos

The Hyundai Mall. It really is something else.
Yun stopped to buy flowers for his wife. What a sweetie pie.

It said “Ramen Library” above all this

Eventually it was time for dinner and we went to Korean bbq. Duh.

Dinner

After that we drove around some more and then Yun dropped us off home. The next day he picked us up and we spent some time in the Songsu area. It’s pretty dope. Lots of retail. Lots of people. We went there to look around and also see the Nike air max (hence the blog title) event they were having that day.

Unfortunately it was only open for “influencers and media” only. So naturally I told them about my blog and they let us right in. I swear that’s the true story. (It isn’t) it was cool. We got to take sick photos at this Photo Booth. (Korea really loves photo booths) we got to create our own customs shirts. We also got to create custom keychains. I love all that shit. I love it more when it’s exclusive because I’m stupid like that. Here’s some pics:

Outside the air max event. They had a concert that night, that we did not stay to attend.

After all that fun we went a few other places. Bought some stuff. Went even more places, then stopped for our final dinner with Yun. We ate at a Korean fusion place and it was real good. Me and Yun drank a little and I learned some shit I never knew about. Korea offers a designated driver service. Like a person will show up and literally drive your car for you. So that’s what we did so me and Yun could drink a little and relax after the long day. Nikki doesn’t drink for those wondering. Even I barely do, but I’m on vacation. Fuck it.

The last supper

From there we got dropped off home by the designated driver dude lol. Then he drove Yun home. Me and Nikki went up, packed up, and slept. That brings us to today. We got up early and hopped on the airport bus. Flew back to Japan and made it in time for dinner. Had some dinner and now I’m writing this at 22:23 (10:23pm) while Nikki’s is sleeping.

I’m gonna dump some more photos below, but just wanted to say thank you. Thank you to Korea. It’s a wonderful city and I can’t wait to go back. Thank you to Noah and Yun for their hospitality. I owe you guys if you’re ever in my neck of the woods. And thank you to you, whoever you are reading this. Love ya!

Korea loves photo booths. So do we.
