1 Coin Happiness

I didn’t buy anything at this vending machine. But here’s a little info about it. Everything in that vending machine is 100 yen which right now is like .66 cents. Kinda crazy right? A very small bag of air with a few chips in it costs like $1.50 at my jobs vending machine. Needless to say with the yen being so weak, there’s a pretty nice “discount” out here for tourists right now.

Anyway it was a long day getting here. Over 24 hours. It basically went something like this: Wake up, hop on flight to Dallas (3 hours), layover at Dallas for 3 hours, hop on plane to Tokyo (13.5 hours), land and go through customs immigration, hop on train to Airbnb, check in to Airbnb.

Add all that on top of the fact that it was 14:30 (2:30pm) when we landed so we stayed awake until about midnight before we even dared to sleep. That’s the best way to beat jet lag imo. And guess what, after all that, I couldn’t be happier. Finally in Japan.

After we got settled in and showered up we met my cousin and his wife who live here in Japan and we had dinner. Torikizoku; a chain yakitori spot. It was nice catching up and just talking about life and shit.

End of the day around midnight we walked my fam to the train station and then walked home and stopped at Don Quixote (it’s like a Japanese wal-mart of sorts but like way more chaotic and claustrophobic). Then we stopped a family mart (convenience store) and got water and a snack and went home. I’m writing this the morning after. Anyway bout to head out for today so I’ll leave you with this photo of Nikki taking a photo in Don Quixote
